How can convergence help within the design process

Convergence communicates transformation and mimicry. Systems and natural design encampulate concepts of how they should be and operate. We should notice that these concepts are embraced in a unique way according to the type of organism and its context.

The main takeaway of the concept of convergence is that for well defined systems variations help create new versions but the core stays the same. For example the Bat Mobile takes a car to a whole new level, but it is still a car!

Bat mobile from the 2008’s Dark Knight

The interesting part of convergence is what happens when a system is unstable and we happen to be designing for it… the solution seems to be look at other systems for successful analogies. Either natural/or man made creations that can be measured in a quantitative and qualitative manner should be evaluated to apply those learnings into the proposed design.
